A hot take on a Spanish classic, this winter warmer gets its sweetness from a combination of fruit juices and honey.
Ingredients
- 3 oranges
- 1 (750 ml) bottle fruity red wine, like Beaujolais or Grenache
- ¾ cup pineapple juice
- ⅓ cup brandy
- 3 tbsp honey
- 4 pieces star anise
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 6 whole cloves
Steps
- Juice 2 oranges into a medium pot. Add the red wine, pineapple juice, brandy, honey, star anise, and cinnamon stick.
- Heat to a simmer on medium. Reduce heat to low and gently simmer 15 min.
- Meanwhile, cut the remaining orange into 6 wedges. Stud each wedge with a clove. Ladle mixture into mugs and garnish with orange wedges.
Comments
For a bigger party, double the recipe and serve from a slow cooker on the “Keep Warm” function.
